Idle Assets

Idle assets are load carriers or pieces of equipment that are not currently contributing to operational activity. In supply chain contexts, this often refers to pallets, containers, roll cages or other returnable transport items that remain stationary and unused, or experience extended waiting times between deployments. While a small buffer of idle assets can be necessary to handle demand fluctuations, a high proportion typically signals inefficiencies, bottlenecks or poor asset utilization.
